The CPR and AED class trains participants to recognize and respond to sudden cardiac arrest and other emergencies requiring CPR, and to use an AED effectively. It equips laypersons and non-medical professionals with life-saving skills for use in homes, workplaces, schools, or public settings.
- Laypersons: Parents, teachers, coaches, childcare providers, workplace safety officers, and community members
- Non-Medical Professionals: Lifeguards, fitness trainers, security personnel, or others requiring certification for work or personal preparedness
Prerequisites: No prior medical experience required. Participants should be physically capable of performing CPR (involves kneeling and applying force).
- Full Course: 2–4 hours, typically completed in a single session
- Renewal/Recertification: 1–2 hours
- Blended Learning: Online coursework (1–2 hours) + in-person skills session (1–2 hours)
- In-Person: Instructor-led training with hands-on practice using manikins and AED trainers
- Blended Learning: Online modules for theoretical learning, followed by in-person skills practice and testing
- Interactive: Includes demonstrations, videos, and scenario-based practice
- CPR Training: Includes adult, child, and infant CPR. Covers compression techniques, rescue breaths, and compression-only CPR for untrained rescuers.
- AED Use: How to operate an AED, place pads correctly, follow prompts, and safely deliver shocks. Emphasis on integrating AED use with ongoing CPR.
- Emergency Recognition and Response: Scene safety, victim assessment, activating emergency services, and coordinating with bystanders.
- Hands-On Practice: CPR simulations on manikins for all age groups, AED training with trainers, and real-life emergency role-playing.
- Assessment and Certification: Skills testing for CPR and AED use. Optional written exam. Certification valid for 2 years upon successful completion.
